Rise in Loan Approvals Welcome News

ABC Radio this morning reported that finance approvals for owner-occupier dwellings in Queensland rose by 2% in December.

Master Builders Association spokesman Paul Bidwell called it a promising start to the year. "On the back of a 1.7 per cent increase in November, it's a very promising sign for us, considering that since August 2009 finance approvals have been in decline."

It is a promising start but there is also a feeling in the industry that it may be another twelve months before housing construction gets back to the 2009 levels.

Building designers are often the first to feel a change in housing activity and we would love to hear from building designers about what's happening out in the marketplace. If you have noticed any change, please post a comment here.
